The R4-ND-OM Scatter Laser fires high-powered beams at enemies. As a side effect of having to channel such high-powered energies, the targeting system may be a little erratic; unlike other towers, the Scatter Laser randomly fires at enemy within its range.

The Scatter Laser has perfect accuracy, but randomly fires at any enemy within its range.

The decreasing return in DPS per spent resource is partly compensated by the increased range: a level 6 Scatter Laser with range 4.7 covers a circular ground area roughly 14 square blocks larger than a level 1 Scatter Laser.

Strategic use Edit

The main strength of the Scatter Laser is its ability to shoot both air and ground units. This can also be its weakness, however, as the towers do not always attack what you want them to attack. Most likely you want them to attack fast airborne enemies if they are present, but if those get combined with a fast ground wave, they will likely split their firepower between the ground units and air units. Scatter Lasers are thus less reliable than Anti-Air towers against airborne enemies; they are better suited as anti-ground towers that remain useful during air-only waves.

On the ground, Scatter Lasers have a good line of sight due to their placement on top of the blocks. They can shoot over other blocks and have a relatively long range, which make them ideal for placement in the middle of a maze. They perform well against the same ground targets as the Gatling tower, dealing many small packets of damage quickly.

The random targeting function of the Scatter Laser can be notably useful against Hoverers, which can only take damage from the back. In a situation where the nearest Hoverer is facing a Scatter Laser, the tower will not waste all of its shots on the invulnerable front, but may instead hit other Hoverers further away that have their backs turned.
